Executive Chair and Managing Director Professor Margaret Alston OAM, PhD

 

Professor Alston is a leading Social Work academic at Monash University. She has over twenty-five years’ experience in research, education and the preparation of training materials. She is one of the most widely published Social Work academics in the country and is a leading expert on gender issues. She has been a keynote speaker at a number of international and national conferences and brings significant knowledge on gender issues, both in Australia and internationally. She has worked with a number of UN agencies and has conducted research and training projects in a range of countries across the Asia-Pacific region as well as in Australia. She brings detailed understanding of qualitative and quantitative research methods and has a global understanding of gender equality and gender mainstreaming. She is a widely respected authority in her field and has an overarching commitment to the empowerment of women and girls, gender equality and human rights.

Senior Consultant Dr Kerri Whittenbury PhD 

 

Dr Kerri Whittenbury is an experienced academic and applied sociologist. She holds the position of Adjunct Senior Research Fellow in the Department of Social Work at Monash University, Australia. She is an experienced researcher and educator with specialist expertise in social research, research methods and methodology. Kerri has undertaken research focussing on women’s status and empowerment in varied contexts including urban and rural Australia and in Asia-Pacific. She has a highly developed understanding of gender and women’s status and empowerment issues and has provided gender training in Australia and in international contexts. Kerri has undertaken collaborative research with corporations, government departments, not-for-profit organisations and community groups. She is also an experienced independent researcher.
